We provide young people with the autonomy to roam, play and experience for themselves the full extent of the forest environment, with the security of safe boundaries and an encouraging, forest school trained instructor. We offer freedom of open woodland to encourage unbounded creativity, which is essential for physical and emotional growth. We support mental, intellectual, and educational development, and the acquisition of social and behavioural skills.

Sessions will always meet the needs of ‘character education’ by developing inquiring minds and an aptitude to problem solving.
The outdoors is a wonderful learning tool, both for providing resources and inspiration. Choose from a selection of themed sessions to from Art to PSHE or subjects such as 'The Romans', 'The Vikings' and even "The Stone Age'.
We use nature in the schoolgrounds to inspire learning.
"My 4 and 7 year old children absolutely loved their forest school class with Esther. As a teacher myself it was just lovely to see them both completely absorbed in the magic of the session and learning skills that the curriculum just doesn't cover. My daughter's favourite part was building bridges for the elves in the trees and she said the whole experience had made her feel 'joyful!‘"
Faye, Glossop
Use the time for developing some of those important ‘soft’ skills such as self-confidence, communication, and teamwork. Your class could also learn and use bush craft, fire lighting campfire cooking and survival skills.
"There is no better way for a child to learn than through the freedom of exploring the forest. Inside Out Forest School enabled my children to develop confidence, learn new skills and gain independence through the adventure of discovery and taking risks. Whether they were building shelters, carving tent pegs, weaving dream catchers or capturing their imagination in troll slime hunting or elf searching, the sessions offered an abundance of opportunities for the children to learn essential skills in team building, leadership and co-operation. And the children had tons of fun, and plenty of fresh air and exercise, in the great outdoors!!"
Sarah, Glossop
Forest Schools started in the UK in the early 1990s and were loosely based on a similar concept from Denmark. They take the classroom outside, providing young people with the freedom to roam, play and experience for themselves the full extent of the forest environment, whilst being guided by experienced adult instructors.
We also offer Forest School experiences for weekend clubs and summer camps, birthday parties, community projects and for pupil referral units and hospitals, working with young people and adults with mental health issues and learning difficulties.
Our founder and lead instructor is Esther Brock. She has over 16 years’ experience as a qualified Design and Technology teacher at Middle School and Secondary School levels. Esther also holds a post-graduate certificate in Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
